A preventive program is a cooperative effort by the patient, dentist, and dental staff to
preserve the natural dentition and supporting structures by preventing the onset, progress,
and recurrence of dental diseases and conditions.
Dentist:
Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays and other diagnostic equipment to evaluate dental health. Diagnose and treat disease or abnormalities and plan appropriate treatment. Administer anesthetics and write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications. Treat exposure of pulp capping and removal of pulp or root canal using dental instruments. Design, make and fit prosthodontics appliances.
